The lighting design of song and dance hall is a more complicated issue. The following issues must be paid attention to before designing:

1. Understand the business direction (purpose) and investment situation of the ballroom.
2. Pay attention to the size of the ballroom, especially the size of the stage and dance floor, the height of the space, and the overall art design and decoration design requirements. These are the key factors that affect the design.
3. Understand the distribution and power supply situation.

There are various forms of song and dance halls, and there is no fixed mode. According to their entertainment nature, they can be roughly divided into three categories: karaoke halls, dance halls, and song and dance halls.

1. Karaoke room
　　 Pure karaoke is a form of self-entertainment by the masses, and the requirements for lighting and sound are not very high. The lighting design mainly considers the creation of the overall environment atmosphere, giving people a relaxed, warm and romantic feeling. In the selection of lamps, more directional lamps should be used to combine them into a certain shape. Mechanized lamps should choose slow-moving varieties, low power, and thicker colors. Ultraviolet lamp glass ball, light rain lamp can be said to be its representatives. Use small light bulbs, small light strips, trotting lights and other small lighting decorations to make some elaborate decorations on the stage to form a fun and distinctive small corps stage, the effect is easy to do well. With the development of karaoke, karaoke halls with cameras and videos appeared. Taking into account the characteristics of the camera, it is necessary to make appropriate arrangements for the lights in the concert area when designing the lighting. Generally, a small spotlight or a small modeling lamp is used to design a character modeling light with a certain illuminance for the singer, so as to ensure that the video recorded program has clear characters and clear images.

2. Ballroom
　　 Ballroom can be divided into two categories: disco (strong dance) hall and ballroom dance (slow dance) hall. The lighting on the dance floor is the most charming charm that can make people feel the variety of light and colors, especially the lights that match the changes of music, melody, and rhythm are more fascinating and intoxicating. In the lighting design, the layout of the directional lamps should be staggered, and the projection direction is all-round. Combined with the control system, it can produce a clear and strong sense of rhythm. Mechanized lamps can be considered more, but the configuration should pay attention to the combination of speed and slowness in dynamics, there should be fast and slow, and the colors should be colorful. In particular, mechanical lamps with sound control functions, capable of expressing heart-trembling rhythms, and powerful strobe lamps with adjustable frequency are more preferred varieties. One thing to note is that when choosing a variety of lamps, you must ensure that there are more lamps. As long as the economy permits, there will not be too many lamps in the ballroom. In the choice of control equipment, it is necessary to use a self-programming console, and the number of circuits of the thyristor must be relatively large, but the power is not required to be large. The purpose is to ensure that the lighting engineer can control all the lights at will, so that the charm of the lighting can be fully demonstrated.

3. Large dance hall
The form of 　　 song and dance hall has the nature of professional performances, and has the functions of karaoke and dance hall. Its business method focuses more on high-level and professional art performances and singing. The design of dance halls generally requires a large space, especially the height should not be too low, the performance stage is relatively independent and complete, and some are even equipped with complex activity stages and rotating stages. The performances of the song and dance hall are all-encompassing, including dramas, sketches, dances, solo singing, and joint singing. Different types of programs, even music and songs with different moods, require different lighting effect atmospheres to set off, which gives consideration to lighting control and lighting design.

(1) Basic light---In order to allow the audience to see the stage clearly and the performance clearly. The first thing is to give the whole stage a basic lighting. This basic illumination includes uniform white light and color light illumination. Basic white light lighting is necessary, but the illumination requirements are not high, especially in some occasions with a lot of appreciation, or at the climax of certain performances, or some special performances (such as magic), basic white light is particularly important. The basic color light is the atmosphere light of the overall stage. Determines the tone of the entire lighting effect, whether it is passionate and unrestrained, or romantic and warm, or melancholy. In the selection of lamps and lanterns, spotlights should be used for the light installed in front of the stage and projected to the stage. The color light should be obtained by adding color filters. The color should not be too dark. Spotlights are generally used on the top of the stage and behind the stage (backlight). Beam spotlights can be used, the direction of the light is cast on the body from behind, the brightness can be brighter, and the color can also be thicker.

(2) Character light---group performances and large-area lighting are solved by basic white light lamps. Local lighting and the lighting of the host are solved with follow-up lights, so it is best to match 2 to 3 follow-up lights to cope with different occasions. The team or other relatively fixed performers can use beam spotlights to cast light at a fixed point.

(3) Background light---The background of the song and dance hall will change with the different performers, and each change is due to aesthetics or the needs of the program. The background light is to appropriately highlight these background objects, so that they can be integrated into the performance, and set off the theme. Commonly used background lights include sky curtain lights, ground curtain lights, beam lights, etc.

(4) Basic effect lights---composed of directional beam lamps, with three-dimensional aesthetics of shape, colorful colors, and the shape can be combined and changed at will by the stage lighting engineer.

(5) Special effect lights---Computer lights are the best special effect lights because of their superior performance and ever-changing effects. But computer lights are more expensive, so they must be considered under the premise of ensuring basic light and basic effects. At the same time, due to the use of computer lights, the number of basic effect lights can be relatively reduced. The mechanical lamps and lanterns of various lamps, because of their relatively single and fixed functions, will feel that they are not easy to control, so they can be equipped with less.

(6) Lighting console---all the above-mentioned lights need to control their brightness. SCR equipment is generally used for control. When choosing a lighting console, it is advisable to choose a console type product with strong effects, a large number of controllable loops, and easy operation. If the economy permits, it is best to use a computer console.
